As the pulse power source of an electromagnetic railgun, the Meat Grinder has the advantages of high energy storage density and a small size. Aiming to investigate the unclear factors affecting the output performance of the Meat Grinder and promote its engineering application, this paper analyzes the working principle of the basic circuit of the Meat Grinder. Based on the principle of electromagnetic coupling, the discharge process of the Meat Grinder is analyzed in detail, and the effect of coupling coefficient and number of stages on current amplification, energy loss and energy utilization are given, and the output performance between the multi stage Meat Grinder and single stage coupling equivalent circuit is compared. The research results show that the coupling coefficient is the most important factor affecting the circuit output performance. Furthermore, the single stage coupling equivalent circuit shows the same output performance as the multi stage Meat Grinder, and is easier to be implemented in engineering application. |
