LS DYNA finite element software is used to simulate the destruction of improvised explosive devices by water jet impinging at different velocities. The safety of the explosives is analyzed through parameters such as pressure and reactivity, and the initiation mechanism of the improvised explosive devices under the action of water jet is discussed. The effectiveness of the destruction process is analyzed through parameters like impact location, aperture diameter and number of failure units. The results show that the high pressure area caused by the friction between the explosives and the shell is the main cause of explosion. The water jet velocity for a safe destruction of the improvised explosive devices should be less than 800 m/s. |
