Abstract: In order to study the influence conditions of the impact excitation velocity threshold of coated reactive fragments, this paper numerically simulates the impact excitation process of coated reactive materials by using the nonlinear finite element analysis software. The influence of fragment structural parameters on the excitation velocity threshold is analyzed, and the empirical expressions including shell head thickness, side wall thickness, aspect ratio, shell materials and target materials are established. The results show that the critical conditions of impact excitation of coated active fragments can be calculated by using this formula. The fragment structure has a great influence on the impact excitation velocity threshold. An increase in shell density, side wall thickness, and aspect ratio and a decrease in shell head thickness can effectively reduce the fragment impact excitation velocity threshold.
