Abstract: A tuned mass damper (TMD) is applied to improve handlebar vibration of a motorcycle. A motorcycle finite element model is established for the study of handlebar vibration reduction, and the feasibility of the model under engine excitation is verified by vibration bench tests. An embedded TMD vibration model is proposed in accordance with the actual TMD installation mode. Taking the first order vibration mode frequency of the handlebar as TMD tuning frequency and aiming at suppressing the vibration acceleration response of the handlebar, this paper combines Den Hartog fixed point theory and equivalent mass identification method to determine the optimal vibration damping design parameters of the embedded TMD. The vibration response analysis of the handlebar under engine excitation shows that the designed TMD has a significant suppression effect on handlebar vibration, and the root mean square value of its total weighted acceleration decreases by 37.8%.
