Semi active dynamic vibration absorbers for rocket sleds based on magneto rheological dampers

Abstract: To cope with the harsh vibration environment of high intensity and wide band during the dynamic test of a supersonic rocket sled, this paper proposes a semi active switch controlled dynamic vibration absorber (DVA) based on magneto rheological (MR) dampers.The mechanical model of the rocket sled with a DVA is developed, and a ground hook switch control as well as a mixeds witch control strategy is designed. The simulation results show that, under a fixed current of 0 A and 2.5 A, the acceleration and displacement response peaks of the main system of the rocket sled with the DVA which is jointly controlled by the ground hook switch and the mixeds witch are both lower than those of the corresponding Kelvin model based vibration absorbing system. Among all of them, the mixed switch controlled DVA obtains the best vibration control performance.
