This paper proposes an improved algorithm to address the problem of geometric feature loss in the simplification of 3D models with multiple triangular meshes and complex structures by the traditional QEM algorithm, such as the missile launcher model. Based on the QEM algorithm, triangle folding is introduced to calculate the volume ratio of the model before and after the simplification, and obtain the mesh saliency by calculating the Gaussian weighted curvature of the local vertices. Then, the above two weights are introduced into the triangle folding error cost as constraint factors to determine the triangle folding order by the size of the folding cost. The experiments show that the average error of the simplified model obtained by the improved algorithm is stable within 0.069 mm, and the visual and geometric quality of the simplified model is significantly better than that of the traditional method, which provides a theoretical basis for improving the rendering efficiency of complex military simulation scenes. |
