Abstract: According to the special working scene of a marine crane, this paper compares and analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of different hoist boom sections, and designs two kinds of carbon fiber composite booms. The analysis of failure, deflection and stress of the section of T 300 and T 700 composite booms under typical working conditions is carried out by using Abaqus finite element analysis software. The simulation results show that the maximum T W coefficient of each layer of T 300 and T 700 booms is far less than 1, and no failure occurs in each layer, of which the safety of T 700 is higher. The two carbon fiber booms increase the deflection of the HG785 boom with wall thickness of 5 mm and 8 mm by more than 45% and 10% respectively, while the T 700 increases the deflection of the T 300 boom by only 5.1%. Compared with that of HG785, the section stress of a carbon fiber boom is less and smoother.
