Abstract: In order to ensure that the sub charges of axial combined MEFP warheads will not be subject to sympathetic explosion, this paper selects polyethylene, nylon, polyurethane and aluminum as the internal filling medium of MEFP warheads. It also uses the explicit dynamics analysis software LS DYNA to conduct numerical simulation on EFP projectile forming, and analyzes the changes of the tip velocity, length to diameter ratio and divergence angle of the center and surrounding EFP formed when different materials are filled into the sub charges. The results show that MEFP has the highest tip velocity when aluminum is used as the filling material. When polyurethane is used as the filling material, the length to diameter ratio of MEFP is the largest, and the divergence angle of the peripheral EFP is the smallest. Compared with previous tests, when polyurethane is used as the flameproof material, the error between the numerical simulation results and real test results is not more than 10.3%.
