Calculation method of damage probability of diesel engine under fragment penetration

Abstract: Diesel engines, as the power core of combat vehicles, provide power to combat vehicles and are an important protection against fragmentation in combat environments. The main structural damage to diesel engines from fragmentation is penetration, and a set of methods for calculating the probability of damage under fragmentation penetration are summarized by taking diesel engines as the research object. The diesel engine component is simplified into an equivalent target, and the ultimate penetration speed formula of the equivalent target is established by combining numerical simulation, theoretical derivation and experimental comparison. Based on the calculation of the intersection of rays and planes, the solution of the intersection problem between the fragment and the diesel engine is completed, and the penetration is taken as the fragment penetration failure mode of the diesel engine structure, and the Monte Carlo method is used to calculate the damage probability of the diesel engine components and the whole under the fragment penetration. In order to verify the accuracy of the Kriging proxy model, the results are compared with Monte Carlo, and the results show that the Kriging proxy model has higher computational efficiency and the same computational accuracy in calculating the probability of damage of diesel engine fragmentation penetration.
