In order to study the destroy characteristics of elliptical cross section warhead, the method of numerical simulation combined with test is used for the study of scattering characteristics of elliptical cross section warhead fragment. The results show that elliptical cross section warhead has the characteristics of low velocity and distribution density of fragment in the direction of long axis while high velocity and distribution density of fragment in the direction of short axis. Under the condition of a/b=1.8, the fragment velocity gain in the short axis direction relative to the long axis direction can reach more than 15%, and the fragment distribution density gain can reach more than 440%, which verifies that the elliptical section warhead has the typical characteristics of damage enhancement in the short axis direction. Therefore, it should be considered to use the direction of short axis of elliptical cross section warhead as its main direction of striking target in the application of the warhead. |
