Abstract: Aiming at the problem of the damage law of the rail penetrated by fragments of different shapes, by designing the test scheme of fragment penetration of rail under various working conditions, the tests of 5, 10, 15 g spherical, cylindrical and cube fragment penetration of rail at different speeds are carried out, and the parameter data of penetration depth and opening area is collected. The results show that the speed, quality, and shape of the fragment have influence on the penetration depth and opening area of the rail. The higher the velocity, the greater the mass, the greater the penetration depth and the greater the opening area. The gain of the fragment mass beyond 10 g has no obvious effect on the gain of penetration depth and the opening area. The penetration velocity is positively correlated with the penetration area and specific kinetic energy. The killing area of fragments of different shapes with equal mass can be measured according to the specific kinetic energy. The conclusion can provide data support for the damage evaluation and protection of railway rail damaged by fragmentation warhead.
