The research on influence of semi armor piercing warhead with different position ribbing penetrating into multi layered steel target

Abstract: In order to study influence of semi armor piercing warhead with different position ribbing penetrating into multi steel target through experiment and simulation, ballistic deflection, penetrating hole and variation of velocity were analyzed when semi armor piercing warheads with different position ribbing attacked 8 layered steel target under original velocity(710 m/s) and impact angle(20°).The results show that angle of ballistic deflection and transverse of penetrating hole are decreased, penetrating performance is increased, angle of ballistic deflection and distance of layers are positive correlation when ribbing neared center of mass. The maximum deviation was 8.82% between the simulation and experiment. The results of the simulation are in agreement with the experimental results.Achievement of study can offer assist for plan of warhead.
