For further application of poly(3 nitratomethy l 3 methyl oxetane)(PNIMMO) in propellant formulations, the surface interface action between PNIMMO and four typical solid propellant components (RDX, HMX, AP and Al) was investigated. The contact angles of each component with different solvents were tested by contact angle measuring instrument, and the surface tension was obtained. Then the interfacial tension and the adhesive work were calculated, and the mechanism was speculated. As a result, PNIMMO has a low surface tension and can spread easily on the surface of propellant components. The contrast of interfacial tension between PNIMMO and the propellant components is: γ SL (PNIMMO AP)>γ SL (PNIMMO Al)>γ SL (PNIMMO RDX)>γ SL (PNIMMO HMX). The contrast of adhesive work between PNIMMO and solid propellant components is: Wa(PNIMMO AP)>Wa(PNIMMO RDX)>Wa(PNIMMO HMX)>Wa(PNIMMO Al). And PNIMMO has the strongest bonding effect with HMX, while has the weakest bonding effect with Al. Compared with HTPB, PNIMMO is beneficial to improve the mechanical properties and rheological properties of propellants. |
