A safety assessment method is proposed based on fuzzy fault trees for ignition systems to deal with long term storage related performance degradation, complex environmental conditions, and internal structure failures. This method calculates top event probabilities and analyzes bottom event importance, capturing the fuzziness and temporal aspects of ignition system failure mechanisms and event occurrences. An example analysis of a small caliber artillery radio ignition system’s initiation failure tree before the predefined arming and contact isolation process demonstrates the method. The results indicate that the failure rate calculated by the fuzzy fault tree is 2.1×10 -9 .The probability value of the top event calculated by the Bell fault tree is 1.2×10 -9 . They are on the same order of magnitude.Fuzzy fault tree analysis is faster and more efficient, enabling a more scientific ignition safety assessment and fault tree diagnosis. |
