Abstract: The chamber gage inspection of the large aspect ratio projectile body has mechanical damage and is difficult to achieve vertical measurement. To solve the above problems, a non contact horizontal bore measurement method has been proposed. This method collects local contour data of the missile body through a laser profiler, and uses the least squares method to fit the multi segment contour data of the missile body. Based on the coordinates of Center of fitted Circle and known radius, complete circular contour data is constructed. Finally, the farthest point first progressive algorithm is used to calculate the Smallest Enclosing Circle (SEC) of the multi segment bourrelet construction points, achieving online horizontal measurement of the missile body. The principle, method, and composition of the measuring equipment were explained, and the measurement errors of the equipment were analyzed and corrected. The experimental results show that using a horizontal measurement method, the repeated positioning accuracy reaches ±0.06 mm, which can meet the requirements of chamber gage inspection measurement.
