Abstract: In order to study the damage characteristics of Ω shaped stiffened panels under close range explosion and the combined effect of fragments and shock wave, the damage differences of target panels under single action, combined action and sequential action of shock wave and fragments were studied through prefabricated fragment explosion experiment and a validated finite element model. The results demonstrate that the shock wave and fragments interfered with each other in the vicinity of explosion field, the maximum reduction in fragment kinetic energy can reach 10.1% compared to when there is no shock wave, and the maximum deflection of the target panel is 30.8% lower than when there is no fragment. For Ω shaped stiffened panels, the deformation is relatively small if only under the impact of fragments, however, the perforation damage triggered by fragments will greatly reduce the ability of the panels to resist the deformation caused by shock wave. When the shock wave impacts the target panel which has been perforated, the maximum deflection of the target panel can increase by 96.5% compared to which only attacked by shock wave. The research results can provide reference for the design of protective structures.
