Abstract: The shooting efficiency of area targets is one of the important indicators reflecting the firepower strike ability of large caliber artillery. Traditional methods usually simplify the model of area targets, evaluation methods and shooting methods when evaluating the shooting efficiency, which deviates from the actual situation. In response to the above issues, this article establishes a geometric equivalent model for complex area targets, a shooting efficiency evaluation model based on coordinate damage, and a shooting efficiency optimization model. Genetic algorithm is used to optimize the aiming point, and a comparative analysis is conducted with the traditional centralized fire methods. The results indicate that the distribution of aiming points obtained using the above models and algorithms is reasonable, and the firing efficiency of large caliber artillery against complex area targets is greatly improved. The optimization method for shooting efficiency developed in this article helps to improve the damage efficiency of large caliber artillery against area targets.
