Abstract: In order to study the damage mode of typical bulkhead structure under close range explosion, numerical simulation of damage process of stiffened plate structure during near distance explosion was carried out based on LS DYNA finite element model verified by experiment. The results show that there are four kinds of damage modes: (Ⅰ) large plastic deformation, (Ⅱ) plate pattern tearing, (Ⅲ) tensile tear failure, and (Ⅳ) shear failure. According to the damage degree of the panel, the damage mode Ⅲ can be divided into two sub failure modes. The damage degree of the plate frame increases with the increase of charge mass and the decrease of explosive distance. When the proportion distance is certain, the plate frame gradually changes from the whole failure to the local failure with the decrease of the explosion distance. At last, the distribution of failure modes is analyzed by using single dimensionless number Φ and two dimensional dimensionless number (Φ, β) respectively, and the one dimensional and two dimensional failure pattern distribution diagrams and empirical prediction formulas are obtained, which can provide a reference for rapid prediction of the damage mode of the bulkhead during near distance explosion.
