Research on initiation and detonation characteristics of a DNTF based explosive

Abstract: To obtain the detonation sequence design technology matched with DNTF based explosive, experiment and simulations are carried out to study the detonation characteristics of the explosive. The critical diameters of the explosives obtained from test and simulation are 4.96 mm and 5.2 mm, respectively, which are basically coincident with each other with an error of only 4.84%.When the length to diameter ratio of the initiating charge is 0.25, 0.5, 0.75, 1, 1.25, 1.5, the minimum initiating charge of the explosive is 0.44, 0.48, 0.5, 0.67, 0.84, 1g, respectively, the minimum primary explosive quantity increases gradually with increase of the length diameter ratio of the primary explosive. Research results can provide basic data for the detonation sequence design of the explosive.
