In order to study the effect of boron powder on properties of HTPB/AP propellant,three kinds of HTPB/AP propellants with different contents of boron powder were prepared. The thermal decomposition properties, combustion behaviors in a cell with a constant volume, explosion heat and burning rate were tested by TG DSC, closed bomb test, calorimeter and camera. The results show that the boron powder changes the thermal performance of the propellant and increases the thermal decomposition temperature range of propellant. Boron powder can significantly increase the detonation heat and burning rate in air of propellant. With the increase of boron powder content, the detonation heat and burning rate in air increase accordingly. Boron powder and its content have little influence on the maximum pressure in the closed cell, which can significantly increase the pressurization rate of propellant. With the increase of boron powder content, the pressurization rate gradually increases. Compared with the HTPB/AP propellant, the explosion heat of the propellant with 5%, 10% and 20% boron powder increased by 3.5%, 11.7% and 16%, the burning rate of the propellant with 5%, 10% and 20% boron powder increased by 9.2%, 14.1% and 22.6%, the pressurization rate of the propellant with 5%, 10% and 20% boron powder increased by 154.5%, 181.8% and 218.2%. |
