Study on criterion for critical velocity of fragment impact detonation bare charge

Abstract: In order to obtain the impact initiation criterion suitable for fragments impacting bare charge column with different curvature radius at different incident angles, based on the criterion proposed by Held and taking into account the incident angle of fragments and curvature radius of bare charge column, Autodyn software was used to carry out numerical simulation calculation for spherical fragments impacting bare charge column, and the critical initiation velocity of explosives under 30 working conditions were obtained. The regular pattern of the incident angle of fragment and the curvature radius of bare charge column on the critical initiation velocity of explosive was obtained. The correction term is obtained by MATLAB software fitting, and the correction criterion of explosive critical initiation velocity about incident angle of fragment and curvature radius of bare charge column is established.The results show that the correction criterion is in good agreement with the numerical simulation results, which indicates that the correction criterion can predict the impact initiation conditions of naked charge column well.
